BrandWell AI Checker Review

Updated April 28, 2026 | 5 min read

The BrandWell AI Checker (brandwell.ai) is a free online app that allows users to scan up to 2,500 characters of text to assess the probability that it is AI-generated. Longer text can be broken up to accommodate the character limit.

The paid subscription from BrandWell provides business-directed services, which include AI-driven content creation, marketing, SEO optimization, and AI content detection. These premium app services cost up to $2,999 per month.[1] This review only covers the free AI checker.

Pros

  • Free AI detection
  • Sentence-by-sentence assessment

Cons

  • Failed 3 out of 4 of our tests.
  • Only scans up to 2,500 characters

Features

  • AI detector: Scans up to 2,500 characters at a time and provides a result of “Passes as Human,” “Hard to Tell,” or “Reads Like AI.”
  • Sentence-by-Sentence Analysis: Highlights each sentence green, yellow, or red to indicate whether it’s determined to be human, inconclusive, or AI.

Test #1: BrandWell vs. LLMs

The first test involves using 7 LLMs to produce 7 different texts based on the same prompt (see below).

The LLM-generated texts are then ran through the BrandWell AI Checker to test its abilities.

Prompt Used

Write a 400 to 500-word article about the migration of North American butterflies. Use a natural, conversational tone that reads as human, with the goal of bypassing AI detection, and avoid using em dashes.

Result:

Fail – BrandWell AI Checker was unable to detect any of our LLM texts as being AI.

Test #2: BrandWell vs Humanizers

Next, we took the ChatGPT-generated text and ran it through 8 different humanizers to generate 8 humanized AI texts.

To test how the BrandWell AI Checker performs against humanized AI text, we scanned each of the humanized ChatGPT texts through their software.

Result:

Fail – BrandWell AI Checker only detected that 1 of the 8 humanized texts wasΒ AI.

Test #3: Testing False Positives + Plagiarism

For the third test, we scanned 10 human-written texts to see if BrandWell would produce false positives by thinking the text was AI. This allows us to see how BrandWell performs at scanning authentic text and whether the LLM is trained on known writing.

We also ran the texts through the BrandWell Plagiarism Checker, to see if it could accurately determine that they are copied.

Results:

Passed False Positive TestΒ  – The BrandWell AI Checker successfully identified 7 of 10 texts as written by a human.
Failed Plagiarism Test – The Plagiarism Checker incorrectly assessed 4 texts, which included 2 excerpts from famous literature, as “Unique” (not plagiarized). Furthermore, 5 results conflicted with the AI Checker, which suggests that the 2 apps are not well synchronized.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the BrandWell paid subscription for?

The paid portion of BrandWell is centered on serving business needs, primarily for AI-generated SEO optimized content and marketing.[2] Therefore, the target customers are businesses that are looking to grow, market, and optimize their online operations.

Are sentence-by-sentence breakdowns provided?

Yes, the BrandWell AI Checker provides an assessment of each scanned sentence (see image).

Is document scanning allowed?

Yes, you can upload documents, however, the 2,500 character limit applies (see image).

Is image scanning included?

Yes, BrandWell allows free AI-detection image scanning, which is currently in beta (link).

Are reports shareable?

No, there is no share function on the free BrandWell AI Checker.

Does BrandWell provide certifications?

No, the free BrandWell AI Checker doesn’t provide certifications to prove that scanned texts are human.

Are AI detections used for internal training?

From the information available online, user data is encrypted and doesn’t appear to be used for training BrandWell’s LLM.

Is BrandWell AI Checker Accurate?

BrandWell has a current rating of only 3.2 stars, based on a single 1-star review. Although one review isn’t enough to go off on, the fact that BrandWell doesn’t have more reviews and charges premium prices does raise a few questions.

Based on our tests, BrandWell AI Checker is extremely inaccurate. When factoring in a lack of positive reviews, we cannot recommend this company for AI detection.
