Test #1: Smodin vs. LLMs

This first test was conducted to determine how accurate Smodin is at detecting AI-written content. Seven LLMs were given the same prompt, and the resulting paragraph of text was copied into Smodin’s AI detector.

Failed – Smodin’s AI detector performed very poorly in detecting AI-written content, with a 0/7 detection rate. In the tests where some AI was detected, it was never above 34%. In two cases (DeepSeek and Meta), Smodin concluded that the AI content was 100% human-written.

Prompt Used

“I need you to write a 500-word article on the founding of Ferrari. Do not use em dashes. Write in a conversational, human tone to try to pass AI detection tools.”

Test #2: Smodin vs AI Humanizers

The humanizer test was undertaken to verify Smodin’s AI detecting capabilities against AI humanizers. Eight AI platforms were given the same piece of writing to humanize (taken from DeepSeek’s generated text above), which was then fed through Smodin’s AI detector.

Failed – Smodin failed to correctly identify AI writing 7 out of 8 times. The best detection result was 64% and almost all other texts were considered 100% human.

Test #3: False-Positives + Plagiarism

The false-positive test used 10 human-written articles, publications, and literary works to evaluate Smodin’s ability to correctly identify them as human-written. The same texts were also run through Smodin’s plagiarism checker to evaluate its ability to detect copyrighted content and assess its database limitations.

10/10 Human Detection – Smodin was able to detect human writing with 100% accuracy.
Poor Plagiarism Detection – Smodin’s plagiarism detector is inconsistent, accurately detecting copyrighted work in only 4/10 tests.
